Programs at the Department of Criminology

In addition to a new ungergraduate major in Criminology, Penn offers a unique and rapidly growing professional M.S. in criminology, an M.A.-Ph.D. program for a highly select group of students, as well a variety of dual degrees.

Undergraduate Major: Students in the Criminology Undergraduate program will gain a broad understanding of the socio-political context of crime and the bio-psychological analysis of violent and anti-social behavior. Every major will be required to work on a faculty research project and complete a Senior Thesis.

Master of Science Degree: Penn's unique professional Master of Science in criminology program aims to shape criminal justice "change agents," preparing students to spend their careers applying criminological research in public and nonprofit organizations, from police and the FBI, to prisons and probation agencies.

Master of Arts - Ph.D. Degree: Penn's 21st Century Ph.D. in criminology explores the frontiers between sociology and demography with medical, legal, neurological, genetic and psychological perspectives on crime and crime prevention.
