Patricia Chamberlain, Ph.D., is a senior researcher at the Oregon Social Learning Center and at the Center for Research to Practice, in Eugene, Oregon. She founded the Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care (MTFC) model to create an alternative to group and residential placements for children and adolescents with severe emotional and behavioral problems in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems. She has been the Principal Investigator on several randomized trials examining the feasibility, efficacy, and effectiveness of MTFC and other community-based intervention approaches. Her recent research interests include examining gender influences on outcomes for adolescents and young adults, developing methods for collecting "real time" data on child functioning in public service system settings, and studying methods for training and supporting relevant agencies/entities in counties and states to bring evidence-based interventions up to scale so that they are part of routine practice. Dr. Chamberlain has authored and co-authored numerous articles and books in the areas of childhood aggression, delinquency, family treatment, therapy process, research methods, and foster and treatment foster care (see www.oslc.org). Dr. Chamberlain is a founding partner in Treatment Foster Care Consultants (TFCC) a company created to disseminate the MTFC model to interested communities.
